As mentioned above the size and weight of these rings may change depending on the personal preferences and the size of the person. The small ring is also the locking ring which locks down to the practitioners wrist which in turn stops larger rings coming off the arm.

Metal RingsThese rings are used for many different purposes but mainly for conditioning and strengthening different parts of the body. Training with the rings offer many benefits help improve and enhance ones overall skills in gung fu. Usually put on the forearms arms, the weight of the ring will help increase the practitioners endurance, strength, power and speed etc..just to name a few. Through regular practice it will build up the muscles in the arm and shoulders. Training with heavy rings will also help with the proper positioning of the arms, body, legs etc. well as improving ones stances and foot work.

The rings are also used to condition/harden the forearms, wrist etc.. Depending on what is practised, the constant banging and rubbing of these hard and heavy rings against the arm will harden and toughen the bones, muscles and skin of the forearm and the wrist. The regular and correct practice with these rings will turn the arms into extremely powerful weapons which can be used to defend or attack.

Metal RingsThe rings can be used in many different ways for different purposes. One can use the rings while performing their forms which will help to further improve ones co-ordination, power, balance, fluidity, stamina, endurance as well as the points already mentioned above. Practising the forms with these rings are quite common but it is not the only time the rings are used. They can be used for variety of different types of exercises and routines. For example one can use the rings to practice straight punches or anyother type of hand technique. There are countless exercises which these training tools can be used for. Many practitioners wear the rings on their arms, however the rings can be put on the leg(around the ankle) to practise various leg techniques, exercises, foot work etc.. The number of rings one uses for training totally depends on the level and physical condition of the person. However it is always better to start with less and then gradually increase the number of rings depending on how you progress.

An important point regarding these rings is to make sure you know exactly what the rings are made out of. The rings made out of steel and brass are safe to use. Most of the rings sold in martial arts stores are made out of brass which are as mentioned ok to use. However sometimes rings are made out of different kind of material or mixture of different material. These can be very dangerous to use because they may have unpleasant effects on your skin or even worst may cause internal problems which may not appear straight away.

It is always good practice to apply Dit Da Jau after using the rings to improve blood circulation, heal bruises and strains, take down swellings etc..
